Gymnastics vs Dance

I love watching Presley in gymnastics class and she LOVES it, but if she is going to look this cute in a dance costume....where do I sign her up?
On a side note, this was Holly's outfit from when she was in dance but she was around 6-8 years old. Why does my 3 year old fit into this?

Five Question Friday

I don't love these questions this week, but I don't make them up, so whatever....

1. What's your favorite childhood snack that you still eat as an adult? I would have no idea. I like all snacks, so there is nothing I can think of that I don't eat now that I did as a kid.

2. What food will you not eat the low fat version of? Peanut Butter....sorry, regular ole JIF is the only way to go! We do buy the low-fat ranch dressing b/c we really don't eat it that often...but I know why I think restaurants always have the best ranch, b/c it is the REAL stuff!

3. What's your favorite way to cool off during the summer? Alcoholic drinks next to a pool or on the beach, or on the patio of any restaurant, or while listening to live music somewhere. Ahh....margaritas, I miss you.

4. What's your favorite summer read? I don't even have an answer for this. I've been slacking on my reading this month but that is likely to pick up with vacations in July.

5. What are you doing to stay cool in this awful heat? Isn't this kind of the same questions as #3? Mostly I sit at a desk in the air condition all day, then I go home to my air conditioned apartment. I've heard about this awful heat, but haven't really had to deal with it yet. So no complaints from me as long as they aren't using it as an excuse to NOT work on my house!

23 weeks 2 days

I had my monthly doctor's appt today. The normal quick, boring check up. Since I decided I am only going to count the weight I've gained that the doctors have for me, I'm only up 8 pounds according to them! I'll take it (even though I know the real truth about this 2012 year and really don't think their charts are right!).
The doctor I saw is the one I saw a while ago who mentioned that we need to watch the growth of the baby (b/c P was small....even though I still don't think she was that small for being 2 weeks early!), so she wants another ultrasound next month. So my next appt I have my glucose test, the ultrasound and my dr's appt! Fun! I am excited to have another ultrasound, another chance to make sure things are still going good (and that we still really have a girl!).

Presley is going pretty good about talking about her baby sister and trying to understand what all babies can and can't do (like walk, talk and brush their teeth!). I really think she'll be a big help! Both Steve and I got to see the baby move last night! Very exciting and very weird, but I love it!

I'm fighting to wear my last pair of non-maternity jeans these days. I noticed last week my ankles were swollen, so I'm sure I have more of that to look forward to over the next couple months. The boobs are large and in charge....my sisters are jealous, as they should be! LOL!

The million things on my mind....

- the house. I can't have this baby in the apartment. It really isn't an option. I still want a quality house, so I don't want to rush things, I just want them done right and fast! PLEASE! After we can get it, we still have to paint, decorate and unpack. I guess can use maternity leave for this?!  NO!
- home loan. blah, I can't think about this right now.
- work. Both of our jobs are demanding during the summer months, we need to get used to it. But with everything else going on it is hard for both us to find an extra 10 hours to work every week.
- baby. Oh yeah, there is a baby coming in October...heck, I'll wait until November...this baby can't come early.
- baby name. Haven't thought about it.
- jury duty. Yes, I got this pushed back which is great for now. Come August I know I'll need to get it pushed back again b/c of work. I've always wanted to be called for jury duty....but really, right now?
- vacation. Oh yeah, we fly out next Friday. Need to pack...maybe next week. Need to make a list so we don't forget anything. Holly asked me what time we are going to the airport that morning...hell, I can't even tell you what time i'm getting off work tonight, I definitely can't tell you anything about next week! ha!
- 2nd vacation. We have Okoboji two weeks later. I feel bad b/c Steve is so busy at work that he might not be able to take off the whole week. We love this week with his family, I would hate to miss it but it just might not be in the cards this year.
- preschool. Still need to get the medical records for Presley before that starts.
- apartment. We got an email 2 weeks ago about renewing our lease agreement, have we done anything about it yet? No. Hope the don't kick us out. I can't believe it has been almost 3 months already!
- bills. Obviously my head is in the clouds and I'm not organized, I realized last week that we never paid our cell phone bill last month. What else have I forgot?
- Friends. I told my friend Cindy that we would get together for dinner...that was 3 weeks ago. I told my friend Colleen that I have to come stop by to check out her new floors, that was over 2 weeks ago. I'm a bad friend these days.
- oh yeah and Presley! Let's not forget the most important person in my life right now. How the hell do we get her to poop in the potty! I'm giving up. Just wear diapers for the rest of your life, I don't care.
- donuts. My husband bought donuts for his coworkers last week, he has never brought me donuts. WTF?
- did I mention that we can't be in the apartment when we have this baby? do you understand the magnitude of crap and inconvenience this would cause. do you know that all of our stuff is stuffed into my parents and holly's garages and I really don't want to go thru them to locate the baby stuff we would need. NO, IT CAN'T HAPPEN! Where is the hammer, I will build the freakin house myself.

on a positive note...
- my cousin in swimming in the Olympic time trials this week, Thursday and Saturday morning! Very exciting!
- i was told today that you can't tell from the back that i'm pregnant!...so i'll take that as long as i can! I go to the dr tomorrow, so we'll see how much more weight i've put on! I think i'm only going to count what the doctors have as weight gain...that's what i did with p. that way i can ignore that 5 pounds that i gained on vacation before getting prego!

Weekend Bliss

Friday morning started off great, when I got the email saying we didn't have to work our mandatory Saturday overtime! woohoo! That was such a relief b/c I wasn't sure when I was going to work since Steve had to work too and was even thinking about taking Presley with me to work!

Friday night ended awesome with me and my girls Holly and Nicky seeing Daughtry in concert. This is the third time I've seen him and I still LOVE him! 11th row seats and I scored a drum stick at the end of the concert when they threw them out and one slid under the seat in front of me! I was quick like a rabbit and swiped it up! LOL!

Saturday Steve went to work and Presley and I got up, ready and went to hit up a couple of garage sales (despite the rain). We got a pair of snowpants (for $3) and 5 shirts for Presley (Ed Hardy and Juicy Couture for $7)! They have butterflies and hearts...so she liked them!
Then we met Steve and went to the flooring place to try to decide on the flooring for our house, I think we got a good idea of what we needed and wanted!
Then I parked it on the couch and Presley literally played in her room with her babies for almost an hour! Amazing!! We made a family trip to (Steve's favorite place) Costco and then headed home for the night! It was a dreary day and night but so nice to just do whatever!

This morning the best hubby in the world woke up and made us waffles! YUMMY! We decided to head to the Arts Festival nice and early before it got too busy and hot! It was a hot and steamy morning but we walked around and saw the amazing art (all too expensive for my blood!)! Other than that we haven't done much besides laundry and watching Presley play 'doggy' (asking to be locked in her 'kennel'!) Too hot to be outside and too lazy to go anywhere! :) We are just preparing for another busy work week and getting ready for vacation after the 4th!

Five Question Friday

1. What do you keep a stock pile of? Not much... I don't think. Steve might have a different answer. I do like to buy things BEFORE they run out..I bought make-up a month ago and I'm still squeezing stuff out of my old one! I would hate to waste the little that is left!
And maybe clothes. I don't have a lot of clothes, but I do have a lot of clothese that I never wear and just can't seem to get rid of. After this kid, none of them might fit anyway!

2. If Ben & Jerry asked you to invent an ice cream, what would it be? I wouldn't need to invent a new ice cream, but I would love to be a taste-tester for them! I'm not creative enough to come up with something new, but I eat enough ice cream to know if it would sell! Why can't I find that job?

3. How do you blow off steam? Eat or cry...are there other options? I probably could work out or something, oh well, maybe I'll try that method next year.

4. What would you do if you had an hour to yourself anywhere within a ten mile radius of your home...no kids, no hubby, just you? I need a pedicure badly, and need to get one within the next 8 days before vacation starts!!
5. When you were 16, what was your curfew in the summertime? My guess is midnight but I really don't remember. I don't remember being one of those kids that was out every night during the summer anyway! I was a good kid!

I'm losing it

Well I know people talk about baby brain and normally I think they are just using it as an excuse for the dumb things we all normally do in our every day lives. However, in MY case, I really do have baby brain! Saturday I made microwaved Presley mini-panpakes for breakfast and we did the same thing Sunday morning (she eats panpakes about 5 days a week, real healthy huh?). However, come Sunday morning I couldn't find the syrup....not in the fridge, not in any of the cupboards?! The only other option, I threw it away?! I don't know but it is gone.

Also I always park on the 2nd level of the parking garage, so when I left work last night I called Steve, as I always do. I made my way around the 2nd level of the parking garage and kept going...in a circle. I was confused, had I parked on the 3rd level and not realized it? Why wasn't I going down to the exit? Oh yeah b/c I didn't actually TURN to go down the exit row, I just drove around the parking ramp in a circle.

I missed gymnastics tonight, worked until 7 pm instead :( Steve emailed me and said 'she is the best one here'....well of course! Although she does have a little more practice than some of the other kids there but she is becoming the 'favorite' in the class! LOL!

Presley got in trouble at daycare today. P and Ben (who is 4) were kicking and not listening during nap time and got time outs! April was just telling me this morning when I dropped her off that she has been so good recently and the easy kid! HA!

I love, love, love feeling Baby G kicking and moving. It's a constant reminder...like baby saying "hello mama, i'm here, don't forget about me!'. What I interpret baby saying is 'mama, give me Frosted Flakes and York peppermint patties please!'

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to the two most important men in my life! My wonderful Daddy and my amazing husband! I love you both so much! Thank you for everything you do for me and our families!

We took the day and had brunch at Mullet's downtown. Great place, good food and a nice view of the river and downtown DSM. It was a steamy summer day, but there was a nice breeze that helped!

Cousins and sometimes BFF's!
Then we headed over to the Iowa Cubs game, a popular Fathers day choice for ALOT of families. We got the cheap seats and the kids got to enjoy the waterfall fountain to keep cool. Steve's brother Matt andhis youngest son Gavin came and met us for the game too. The Cubbies pulled off the win after a long losing streak!
A rare family picture!

 Daddy and his three girls

 and his favorite girl!
After the game we headed to my parents house to do some practicing on our family talent for the upcoming family reunion and family talent show! Once we got home, we were all worn out and Steve took a nice father day nap starting at 7 pm!
It's Monday night at 9:15 and I just got home from work at 8. A nice 12 hour day for me! We have our mandatory overtime this week so just going with the flow. I told Presley tonight that daddy was going to take her to gymnastics tomorrow night b/c mommy has to work late again. I said 'BOO' and she said 'BOO HISS...mommy always goes to work'. That made me feel bad and our overtime is really just starting! Oh well, maternity leave is just around the corner and we'll be tired of each other then!

Random

Here is a picture of Presley and Colton from last Saturday. I kept trying to get Colton to smile at me, I think he thought P and I were a little nuts...but then P was jealous that I was taking pictures of him so she had to get included!
Me at 21 weeks! I started feeling her move off and on starting about 17 weeks, at 19 weeks it was more frequent and this week Steve finally was able to feel her kicking. I tried to get P to feel her today, she said she did but who knows. I asked if she felt her sister kick and she nodded and told me that kicking isn't nice.
Clothes are getting more and more difficult to come by. I can still wear one pair of non-maternity jeans, other than that I have 2 pairs of work pants, 1 pair of capris and 1 pair of shorts...and that is going to have to last me, I just don't want to buy anymore!
We had a busy week with gymnastics (which I hate to miss!!!), Steve working late and me trying to find time to work late. We still found the time to go up to Johnston Green days for a couple hours on Thursday night. Presley got to choose two rides, she wanted the merry-go-round and the big slide. Dad was able to ride both with her, for some reason they are not recommended for pregnant people. Really? How harmful could a merry-go-round be?
I'm just happy that she isn't scared to ride these things this year. I just love that smile!
Then we both enjoyed footlong corndogs (no she didn't eat all of hers)!
Last night we headed down to Norwalk for a surprise birthday party for two friends of ours. It was a lot of fun. Lots of kids and good to catch up with people that we haven't seen in a very long time! Presley wants to be included with the big girls SO much! There was a 4 and 5 year old playing in a room and I told her I would stand outside of the room and she could go in and play. She was so frustrated with herself. She would take a couple steps in and then come running back to me, get up the courage to go back in a little further and then run back again. This went on over and over again, and then the older boys with their light sabers came running into the room, turned off the lights and scared her for good. She did eventually start following the other girls around and they were all very inviting. It is so cute to see her be included. (and heart breaking to see her left out when she wants to be but is too scared!)

Steve had to get up early this morning and go to work. I didn't hear P until about 9 am, which was awesome b/c I needed to sleep! The Green Days parade started at 10 and was just down the street from us. So P and I walked up there to see if we could find a spot to watch and maybe score some candy. She was a little hesitant to run and grab the candy but by the end she had the hang of it, waving and super quitely saying thank you. Holly even came and met us up there for a while too which worked out perfectly but Holly and P had a date to go see Madagascar! So after the parade they were off to the movie and I headed into work for a couple hours!

Steve went to go watch his nephew Zac's fight tonight (he lost! bummer!) and Presley and I hung out. She was so good all night until bedtime, but I know she was tired. And we have another busy day and week ahead of us too. Oh summer!

Moonlight Dr

So far, here is our progress.....from the back of the house.
The basement. Presley is standing in the future bathroom and Steve in the future 4th bedroom.

 the basement and house, framed!
We are still on pace for the hopefully completion date of September 1st. So far the weather has cooperated in helping with this process. I heard the house is partially sheeted and hopefully in the next week or so we can be on our way to having the house enclosed.

Five Question Saturday

1. Would you grow your hair out to donate it? I would, but I doubt anyone would want it. Colored and damaged hair is probably not 'donate-able' (a new word, I just made up!). I love the idea and yes I would. Of course, my sister Samantha did this when she shaved her head last year....I will not be going that far to donate though.

2. What song makes you think of summer? Barefoot Bluejean Night! Presley now will sing this song along with me!
Also any song that mentions the ocean or margaritas!

3. Are you a flip flops or sandals kind of person? Well, since I'm in desperate need of a pedicure I have one pair of flats (not even sandals) that I've been wearing. If I had cute toes, I would be in flip flops most of the time. I do have some sandals that I love but I'm a little more about comfort these days.

4. Favorite summer treat (ie ice cream, snow cones, etc)? I think I have mentioned my obsession with ice cream. 'Nuff said.
Of course, with the way McDonalds keeps pushing their Cherry Berry Chiller that might become my new favorite.

5. Do you do something special for the father of your children? Not really, is that bad? We always get together with my family for these types of holidays. It's usually a given that we'll get together for lunch, a picnic or this year we are doing brunch and an ICubs game! I think the most important thing you can do on Fathers Day is being with a father!

So funny!

Presley has been so funny tonight! First of all she admires her daddy so much and thinks he can do anything (which is exactly how all little girls should think of their daddies!) If there is anything broken or something that I'm questioning on doing, she'll tell me that "It's ok, daddy can do it". Well, that makes me want to prove to her that I can do it too!
We were watching the American Ninja Warrior show and I said something about how hard it looked and she said "My daddy can do that". Without a doubt in her mind.

Then she was stalling at bed time and was just fiddling around, playing with her watermelon instead of just eating it. Then she was thirsty. I told her that it was time to go to bed and that she needed to finishing eating! She looked at me and said "OH, you make me SO mad." I just started laughing at her!
Then while Presley, Barbie and I were reading Wacky Wednesday at bed time, she was pointing out all the 'wacky' things in the book to her barbie. She starting saying 'shake your boobie' and having her barbie dance...b/c we always tell her to dance and shake her booty!

She also has her Disney princess figurines that she plays with, she hasn't seen most of the movies so she doesn't know their names and always asks me their names. She said "daddy doesn't know the names b/c they are girl movies". She is super excited for Holly to take her to see the 'tiger' movie (or Madagascar 3 as most people would call it). Holly wanted to take her to see Brave, but for some reason P is not interested in it. Oh well, they will have fun. She loves Holly these days!

Monday, June 11, 2012

Oh weekend

Our weekend fun seems to start Thursday nights (you know, kinda like they did back in college.....without the hangover the next morning). We went to the Jasper Winery to watch Flipside play and meet a couple friends. It was the perfect night, you can take your blankets and chairs, they do sell food and drinks but you can take your own stuff too. It was so nice and we'll be going back in a couple weeks when The Nadas play if anyone wants to join us!Friday we didn't do much, cleaned the apartment and drove up to look at the house and the progress. We have a basement and garage floors and hopefully in the next week or so they will start the framing!

Saturday morning Steve got up nice and early to go to work and Presley woke up early too, darn it! I saw her little shadow standing in our door way, so I quickly closed my eyes in hopes that she wouldn't see me looking at her. I heard her take her diaper off, go potty and then put her underwear on....then I saw her little body in my doorway again. She stood there for a while and then went back to bed, and then I hear....MOM, MOM, MOM! She never does that and it better not become a bad habit! LOL!
Then Presley and I watched Lisa and Jared's little boy Colton for a couple hours while they went to take care of some things for the house they are building. He was perfect, he watched Presley a lot and played good so it was nice having someone to entertain Presley for a while! And she was very helpful with him too, hopefully a preview of how she will be with Baby G!
That afternoon we didn't do much, we decided to drive around and hopefully find a garage sale or two and then Presley fell asleep in the car (the kid who didn't sleep the entire way to Texas last year)! So we just drove around some more, up past Saylorville and stuff until she woke up !

Sunday morning I got up nice and early to go to work for a couple hours (tis the season of overtime!). Then we took Presley swimming for a little while. That girl is SO happy outside! We did our usual Sunday shopping and laundry and enjoyed the afternoon!

Today my parents took Boston and Presley to the strawberry patch! In the eyes of these two kids, who both love fruit, this had to be Heaven! We shouldn't have to limit her fruit intake but she would eat it all day long if we let her! (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, kiwi, grapes (purple and green), apples, oranges, pears, watermelon, peaches, bananas, pineapple, applesauce.....it is never ending!) Thank you mom and dad for taking her today!

Five Question Friday

1. Did you do anything special for your kids on the last day of school? Or did you parents do anything special for you? I remember in highschool we always went to Adventureland. I think back then we were able to get tickets for $10 and it was the 'cool' thing to do on the last day of school

2. What's your favorite summer tradition with your children? I love having an annual vacation. Steve's family has their Okoboji trip every year (they might be on their 16th year now?!). And my famiy has our reunion every OTHER year, so it works out nicely and so far we haven't overlapped at all!

3. What was your favorite thing to do during the summer as a kid? I don't really remember, is that bad? Besides our family reunion, maybe girl scout camp or swimming lessons. Though I'm not sure I really liked either one of those things!

4. How old were you when you were married? Were you a Bridezilla? I was 28 years old, Steve and I had been together for 5 years by that time. Crazy how time flies. I don't think I was a bridezilla but you probably need to ask those around me. I hate making decisions so Steve helped with the planning alot. I think I was fairly laid back and reasonable, keeping things in perspective.

5. What is your favorite girl name? Ummm....super ironic that this is a question for this week. I don't make up these questions so I'm not going to answer this question b/c that would give away too much. Plus Steve and I haven't even talked about names for Baby G yet!

Rant

I just have to do some ranting about some things that irritate me, I hope I don't offend anyone. No one has to agree with me but this is my blog and I can say what I want to.

- I love when I pull up to our apartment parking lot and there is a fancy Escalade taking up two parking spots b/c God forbid someone door ding them. Yeah, that would suck but you know what, it would suck to get a door ding on either one of my cars too but you don't see me taking up two spots! Sorry, you decided to buy a fancy car.
- How do so many people accidently get pregnant? I just don't understand. I know a lot of people who have had a lot of sex and never had a problem and I know a lot of people who have tried for years to get pregnant and can't, so it's hard for me to comprehend all the people who 'accidently' get prego. Do you just forget how it happens? And don't get me started on the Teen Mom show.
- If you call the wrong number...don't dial it again in hopes that you'll all of a sudden get the right person. It is still going to be the wrong number.
- I will never understand large corporations and the implementations they decide on. I'm sure they have people crunching numbers on anything and everything to make their decisions, but do they actually ASK their employees for their opinions, ideas or advice on how their decisions affect their every day work? NO!
- How do we get our 3 year old to poop in the potty??? I think we are due to have another weekend of allowing no diapers, even at bed time. She might spend 3 days holding it, but at this point I'm not sure we have another choice. I've been offering her $1 for every time she goes, but she won't even try. She won't give in to our bribes!

Tuesday, June 5, 2012

Pool party!

We finally enjoyed the pool Monday after work! Presley loved it despite the water being extremely cold but daddy was a trooper in the water. She made up her new favorite game of taking her 3 rubber ducks from her bath toys and trying to throw them into her new princess floaty ring. Of course, she didn't want to leave which I can see being an ongoing problem every time we go!

Sunday, June 3, 2012

Goodbye rat tail!

Presley had become obsessed with her 3 baby dolls and 2 stuffed raccoons (that I won at Adventureland). This is how she goes to bed now, covered and surrounded by her 'loved ones'. It is helping our bedtime routine though, they keep her company so we don't have to!
Friday night we went to Simon Estes to watch The Nadas play! The three of us met Samantha and Boston in the East Village for dinner at Quentins then we headed down to listen to some music. It was a nice, cool night but the bad part is the opening act starts at 8 and The Nadas didn't start until 9. That is late for B and P. Presley did great, Boston not so much. He didn't have a nap and nothing was making him very happy. We got home about 10:30 and put our very tired girl to sleep.
Saturday morning Steve had to get up early to work! Boo! But we had planned a date afternoon. Holly came to take Presley to lunch and watch her while we went to see Snow White and the Huntsman b/c I wanted to see this movie so bad and we NEVER go to movies. (Two years ago we saw Inception, three years ago we saw Gran Torino and before that was Wedding Crashers.) It was really good and even Steve liked it! Thank you Holly for these 4 hours! Presley had a great time at lunch, getting banana Runts and painting your finger nails!

This morning we got up and went to brunch with the family. It was such a nice morning that we were able to enjoy the patio at Limey's!  Afterwards we headed to the mall b/c I finally made an appt to get my hairs cut and highlighted! It was a family day at the salon b/c Steve got his hair cut and we got Presley's rat tail cut off! Finally!
It was a great weekend and now we are ready for another busy week. I'm so glad the weather is supposed to be nice so they can keep going on our house! Sounds like they are on pace to be done by September 1st, which would make me ecstatic!!

Five Question Sunday

1. What were you scared of as a kid? I couldn't really remember anything so I called my mom to ask her....she said 'other people'! (when Steve heard me ask my mom she quietly said 'attention!', he knows me so well!) Nice huh? That doesn't sound like Presley does it? :)

2. Do you sleep well in a hotel? Depends on the hotel, the reason why we are there and how much sleep I may or may not be getting.  I love traveling and hotels are part of the experience.

3. If you could meet any celebrity, dead or alive, who and why? Oh, this is too hard to answer. I could be really cool and say Oprah or someone like that. Or make up an answer like the Pope to make me sound worldly but really I don't know. Probably someone like Pink or Lady Gaga, or the person who invented the snooze button.

4. It's a hot summer day. Do you prefer to be pool side or at the beach? I would have to say pool, even though I love the sound of the ocean and the rise and set of the sun over ocean. But swimming in the ocean (we're talking like normal ocean, not sea green see-to-the-bottom ocean) is kind of dirty, it's salty and there are animals in there.

5. What is your favorite summer dish? Other than an ice, cold alcoholic beverage? Anything grilled, there is nothing better than the smell of a grill in the summer!
