Countdown to Kindergarten! GASP!

I always enjoy the nights I get to hang out with my favorite hairdresser Josie at Bella Salon, we get along really well, the customer service is awesome and it's 2 hours to just be pampered with a glass of wine in hand. So Tuesday I went to visit Josie to get my back-to-school hair cut (ha!), I hadn't had it done since the middle of March so my roots were due for some blondness!

We got our kindergarten info in the mail over the weekend and of course, the meet the teacher day is next Wednesday when we are out of town. I had emailed the principal last week and was able to get with the teacher this week to set up a time that we could go meet her. I knew with Presley we had to get her in there to meet the teacher, see her room, find her desk and coat hanger area....just for her (and us) to feel a little more comfortable on the first day!
So the three of us met Mrs. Kulhman this afternoon, we are very excited! She is very nice, seemed really understanding and she is a Hawkeye and Packer fan! Woohoo! It was actually kind of nice to meet her with no one else there, we didn't have to force a couple minutes to chat with all the other kids there, we got to ask questions and got to know her a little more personally than we would've going on the normal day.

That being said, today was Presley's last day at Generation Next. We are very grateful for her time there, she has learned SO much over the last year and they did a good job at working with her to get her to open up socially which is really what she needed the most! She made thank you cards (with the bonus of a Target gift card included in them) for her 2 regular teachers (Ms Coleen and Ms Janet) and for the morning teacher that we have dropped her off with since day one! (poor Ms Heidi, spending every day for 3 months trying to calm her down and keep her from screaming, crying and running after us in the mornings!). All 3 teachers were very sweet and all 3 were in tears when she gave them her thank yous! They all gave us VERY nice thank you cards and had so many wonderful things to say about her and us as parents and a family. Maybe they are just very good bullshitters, but they all seemed very genuine in missing her!

They will get visits from her occasionally since Miss Piper will be starting there full time on the 18th! We figured this would be a good time to make that transition (before potty training and before winter when my mom has to keep her entertained all day every day!). Piper is going to miss Grandma and Pa so much! She rules the house there, she gets what she wants and gets so much attention and so many laughs out of them....I know they are going to miss her too. Good thing Steve and I can find plenty of reasons to have them babysit on nights and weekends so that they don't miss her too much! ;)
