Fri
Friday (2 weeks ago now) it rained. We had tossed the idea around about leaving and driving half way, getting a hotel, doing some dinner and pool time, just to break up the 6 hour drive to Hayward, Wisconsin. Since there wasn't an end in sight for the rain, we decided about 11 am that yes, we were going to pack up everything and head out. We left about 1 pm with no real destination. We finally decided our destination was Red Wing, MN. We actually had a hard time finding a hotel room b/c there was a wedding and a pottery convention, we got lucky that one person had cancelled their room! We checked in and found The Smokin Oak, it was so good and a very cool place!

After dinner we drove around and enjoyed the great weather and cute little town.
The Mississippi River was VERY high and parts of this area were blocked off.
Then we went back to the hotel room and did some pool time. The girls were so excited and we basically had the pool to ourselves (I guess pottery conventions don't bring a lot of people who want to swim, weird.)
They had a lot of fun for a good hour and then we headed up and tried to get some sleep!
We are still working on Piper learning to swim, we actually have more swim lessons this week coming up. Presley does SO good with her swimming and she always gets irritated that I still sign her up for lessons. A friend of ours runs a pool and swim lessons and I told Presley if she wanted to swim for Amy and if Amy said that she didn't need any more lessons, then I wouldn't sign her up for any more. Well Amy still has her 13 year old in lessons, so I knew she would never say Presley didn't need to take more! :) She said it's the one thing that you can't really know TOO well, she has these 13 yr olds treading water for 15 minutes! Presley did just move up to the level 4 class, which will basically be swimming the length of the pool over and over again, but I think it's good for her!
