A week ago, we saw Piper's friend out and her mom mentioned that Piper should play soccer on her daughters team. I wasn't planning on signing her up for anything until next year since we are just starting gymnastics next week also. But I got a wild hair up my ass and signed her up. I immediately started regretting it. The cost to sign up (and you better believe I paid the $20 to opt out of volunteering for concessions or coaching, well worth the $20!) plus they have to have TWO jerseys and the cost of the ball, socks, shorts and shin guards (which we have from 4 years ago when we tried to get Presley to play, and I don't know if you remember how awesome that turned out...here is a refresher http://thegoodlife-jgo.blogspot.com/2013/04/soccer-is-fun.html) but the shin guards were basically 4 years old but brand-new out of the package when I opened them last night. Then we didn't think she was going to end up on her friends team and we found out the first game is next weekend, when Steve and I are out of town!
So I got her signed up Monday, got her birth certificate delivered on Tuesday, got an email Wednesday morning that they had practice that night. UGH. I was not ready for that. Piper seemed super excited when I picked her up from daycare but.....that slowly faded when we got there. She did tell me that she wanted to wear a helmet b/c she didn't want to get hit in the head. Her friend on the team wasn't there, it was hot....and she basically had NO idea what she was doing. Buttttt......she wore the shin guards and joined the team for about 1/2 the practice. So that is more than we got out of Presley, so I was relieved.
She didn't understand why she couldn't use her hands and kept saying 'I can't' or 'I don't know how!' She is SO funny! She is not afraid to ask questions, to blurt out ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. I couldn't help but laugh b/c it was so cute and so different than me and Presley!
We got home and Presley was going to steal her juice box and she ran in saying 'Presley NO! That is mine, that I got at baseball!'.....oh man, we have a lot to teach her.
She was pretty much done, she said she didn't want to do it anymore and I told her that she has practice and games left, but it won't be as hot next time. I also am trying to bribe her with a new soccer ball (that we have to buy anyway). So wish us luck on Sunday at her next practice!
