The long weekend was in fact, long! Friday night I met my friend Sarah at Eatery A for dinner, very good pizza, very cool place! Her and I have been friends now for 5 years and it's that friendship where you can see each other once every 6 months and things are still totally normal. You catch up, you talk, you laugh and always promise you will see each other again soon....and then 6 months later! Life just happens. That night Steve took the girls to the horse races and Presley touched a horse! I was shocked to hear this, this girl is learning to step out of her comfort zone and we LOVE it!
Saturday morning I forced myself out of bed at 5:45 and was at work by 6:40...this was not an easy task people. I just have to remind myself that vacation is just around the corner, so close I can almost reach it!
Once I got home, we packed up and grabbed some lunch on the way to Lake Panorama. The weather was chilly, definitely NOT July weather but we managed.
We did get out on the boat...cousin Sam did some tubing
and family friend Amy did some skiing...it was awesome seeing her get up on one ski the very first time trying! We love Amy, great friend and SO good with all the kids!
Cousin Gavin, cousin Ava and P
These two are like best friends when they around each other....LOVE it!
That night we did head out on the boat to watch the fireworks on the lake. It was awesome to see all the boats out there. My favorite 30 minutes of this weekend was Piper sitting on my lap, cuddled up to watch the fireworks (hands covering her ears of course). It was perfect (a little chilly, but with sweatshirts and blankets it was perfect!)
Sunday we slept in and then hung out. It was chilly again but that didn't stop the kids from doing anything. We sat on the deck and talked and hung out while the kids played, we took the boat out a couple times too.
Presley and Piper with cousins Ava and Ella (and their cousin Nora)
Presley and Ava decided they wanted to go tubing! I was shocked. S.H.O.C.K.E.D. Ava had only been once so she was more comfortable with Presley going with her. They didn't go too fast but occasionally got some good waves and splashed in the face. The smiles on their faces were priceless!
There is NOTHING better than seeing your child have fun and laugh especially doing something they are hesitant to do....and with Presley this is awesome! We were SO proud!...and yes, we realize this is just tubing but this is one little step to her coming out of her shell and not being scared to do things!
..................and then here is real life....nothing is always glitter and unicorns, that is for sure! She was not impressed, can you tell?
That evening we took a nice boat ride around the lake and we saw these guys jumping on this pillow. It looked like a lot of fun!
See the guy kinda in between the flags jumping off the ladder?
This guy went flying off the other end, it was fun to watch!
That night a couple of us headed to the tiki bar to hang out for a while, the girls stayed back with the other kids and Aunt Christie....Piper fell asleep on Amy's lap and Presley and Ava fell asleep together watching Monsters Inc. So cute!
Monday we got up, helped pick up, clean up, get laundry started and headed home. Our kids were TIRED, crying over everything, fighting over everything. Both rec'd time outs in the car, so the minute we got home they both went to their rooms....Piper fell asleep crying and took a nap for over 2 hours....which NEVER happens with her but obviously she needed it!!!
That evening we spent some time outside doing snakes and sparklers. The neighbors came over for dinner and the kids played good!
Then Steve and Kyle set off their fireworks....Piper and Carver were NOT impressed and were scared!! :(
This is the wreath that my awesome cousin Jenny made for me when I was unable to attend craft day with the family! I love it!! Even the reflection of my tank top matched! HA!
God Bless America!
