Presley is a terrible hide and seeker. She loves to hide but she loves to be found, which isn't really the point. Here is how this game goes in this house.
(P and Daddy hiding under the blanket on the couch)
Me : Where is Presley? She is in the bathroom?
P : NO! (giggling from under the blanket)
Me : Is she outside?
P : NO! (laughing from under the blanket)
Me : Is she under the blanket?
P : YES! (OMG! And she is shocked when I find her...under the blanket!)
It's so funny every time we do this! We obviously need some practice at this though.

VBS and music on the river!
So Tuesday and Thursday P goes to April's house for daycare. Well last week April's girls had vacation bible school (VBS.....yes, I googled this to find out what it meant the first time I heard it) and she took Presley along with them! I'm always nervous about how P will behave for her, in a place she doesn't know, with people she doesn't know. April had Presley join the group of kids her age and she did good! She cried right at the beginning but otherwise did good! She even liked the 'kid helper' in her group so much she went back and gave her a hug before they left! Whose child is this?
Lucky me, I had Friday off and got to spend some more time with P. Of course, I was up at 6 am when Steve's alarm when off. I almost got back to sleep about 7:30...when Presley decided she was going to wake up! I'm getting old! I've never had a problem sleeping in! I don't know if I have more stuff to think about or more stuff to worry about getting done, but I want to sleep in!!!
Friday night we had family night. We went out to dinner and then went to Simon Estes to watch The Nada's play along the river. It was the perfect night! The weather was great, Presley was good, lots of people and the best music!
(Ignore her hand on the beer can, I swear she wasn't drinking it! No one needs to call child services on us! LOL!)
The rest of the weekend we hung out, ran some errands and got some stuff done around the house. Presley slept until 9:30 both mornings! Unreal! (Of course, Sunday morning I was up at 7:30 for no reason at all!)

Steve hasn't been feeling good this weekend so P and I hung out quite a bit. She pushes my buttons. I'm sure it is a mix of my lack of patience and her being 2 years old. Everything is an argument, I feel like I have to make a deal for everything we do in order to get her to do anything. It's tiring. Another good confirmation for me that I'm not made to be a stay at home mom.
We have a busy week ahead of us! Both of us are super busy at work, I have 2 going away parties (bye Andrea and bye Kathy! I will miss you and wish you the best of luck). Plus, getting ready for Urbandale fourth of July next weekend! My favorite time of year to live in Urbandale!

Happy, Busy, Father's Day weekend!
Saturday morning Steve was nice enough to go work for a couple hours (I probably should've worked this weekend too...Oh well!). Then we had his company family picnic! They provided lunch and plenty of drinks! All the kids played pretty good together, except for Presley who didn't leave our sides. I tried to get her involved but she just wanted to sit on my lap and watch the kids play (my mom says this is how I was when I was younger too).
Steve then headed to Creston for the night and Presley and I invited Cindy and Breanna over for dinner and to play for a couple hours. The girls are just about a year apart in age, but they got along pretty well!
The hair still amazes me. I know you're probably tired of me talking about her hair, but goodness..look at this!

Today, for Father's day we headed to the annual Moeller picnic! It is always good to see everyone. Good food, good laughs and lot of pictures!

Thirsty Thursday and Fabulous Friday
We made another trip to the Jasper Winery on Thursday night to watch Pianopaloosa! Another perfect night to be outside! We packed a nice picnic dinner and some toys to keep P occupied and headed out to relax. We met my coworker Katie and her family out there. Her little boy is almost three and Presley loves to watch him play. She doesn't want to play with him....just watch him fight his Star Wars action figures and play catch.
My poor mom had Presley every day this week b/c April had vacation. I know P wears her out, messes up her house and is definitely more demanding than Boston! But I know Presley entertains her and makes her laugh. And my dad....'pa' as Presley calls him...is probably Presleys' favorite person on the planet! It is freakin adorable to see them interact with each other!
I was able to get out of the office for lunch with my friend Janelle today. It was nice to talk. I think we think a lot alike when it comes to being mothers and that is refreshing! We need to hang out more often for sure!
Tonight we hung out at home! Not very often do we stay at home on a Friday night! Steve did some more home improvement stuff (we are slowing installing new windows) and P and I played. We ordered pizza and talked with the neighbors, it was a nice night. Of course, time goes by too fast!
Steve just got back from his weekly trip to Lowes...I made sure to tell him NOT to get lost getting me ice cream on the way home! (hint, hint) :) and it worked b/c I was treated to a McD's hot fudge sundae when he got home!

NKOTBSB
Steve and I were talking about music (we both LOVE music!) and Steve thought maybe he should've been born in the late 50's b/c he loves the 60's music. I was born at the right time! I'm an 80's, early 90's kinda girl!
Turning on my Pandora to the New Kids on the Block station and hearing NKOTB and then Tiffany, really, what could be better? It might be sad, some might say a little pathetic, but I DON'T CARE!
New Kids were my first concert, maybe that's the reason for the connection. Then I saw Jordan Knight in concert about 7 years ago with my girlfriends in Ames. About 2 1/2 years ago, when I was 7 months pregnant I went with friends to Omaha to see them and then again 6 months later in Des Moines. Okay, I might have an obsession.
Now they are touring with another boy band the Backstreet Boys...hence...NKOTBSB. I might be going to buy their CD soon (and maybe another concert ticket!). Don't judge.

Rain, rain go away!
After 3 days of rain, we finally met the weekend! YES! Friday night we had Andrea come babysit for Presley while we went out for my friend Dave's 30th birthday party! Presley loves Andrea and it was nice to get out for a couple hours!
This morning Steve went to work for a while and P and I hung out around the house. After her nap we all headed downtown to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. It was really cool and the perfect place for some pictures of our baby girl.

After some pictures we decided to hit up Prairie Meadows and watch the horse races since the weather was so nice! Sam, Jon and Boston came and met up with us and we tried to win some money betting on some races.....we didn't come out ahead. Oh well! Presley loves the horses and we can be outside! It was such a nice night, hopefully we'll have good weather again tomorrow!

Stuff
I was in a meeting at work and was doodling on my paper....and I thought about when I was growing up and my mom would be talking to one of her siblings or friends on the phone and she always had a piece of paper and pen in front of her. By the end of the conversation you could read the words, names or phrases on that paper and put together the full conversation that had happened. I wonder if my mom still does that? I never have conversations with friends on the phone like my mom did back then. We have email and text messaging now, actual conversations are few and far between....kinda sad, isn't it?
I remember growing up and reading with my mom. Laying on the bed, she would read the left-hand side of the page and I would read the right. The book I remember is Little House on the Prairie but I know there were many others. I hope Presley will read with me in the coming years, I'm not sure she is a Little House on the Prairie type of girl but I can compromise. Right now she loves the Dumbo book my Aunt Ann gave her, though she would rather 'read' it to me than to wait for me to read the actual words.
Presley loves counting to 10. However, it goes like this.... 1, 2, 3, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. She doesn't seem to like number 4.
She also seems to have a new found love of cars. As a girl you don't get cars from Santa or for your birthday, we don't purposely keep these 'boy' toys away from her. We have some 'boy' toys around the house, (the Little People parking garage, a toy tool box, Legos) but no cars. So we bought her some cars, she makes the car sounds and lines them up in a row. No racing, no crashing....like a boy would do.
I think I've mentioned in previous years that I don't like basketball. I still don't.
I hate having a free weekend and now trying to figure out when we are BOTH going to go into work. Blah. At least I'm paid by the hour, might have to treat myself to a shopping spree soon!

We broke down and bought it.
I had Tuesday off of work, which was so nice! I took Presley to daycare for 5 hours while I enjoyed some much needed time to myself. I was able to get some errands done and laundry done from our trip.
Thursday night we went out to Jasper Winery to watch The Nadas play and just enjoy some good music, outdoors. Couple lawn chairs and beers and we were set for a couple hours. P stayed close to us, as always, but after an hour or so she was a little more willing to be friendly to the other kids. A late night, but it was the perfect night!
Friday night we went to a BBQ/baby shower for a couple friends of ours. There were a ton of kids with plenty of toys to keep them all busy! Good friends, food, beer (a happy Presley!) and it was another great night!
We broke down and bought Presley a swing set! So Steve had a project for all of Saturday. Jared came over to help him out (THANK YOU JARED!). Presley and I talked with Lisa and played with baby Colton! (why didn't I get my camera out to capture some of those smiles?)
Presley is in 7th heaven!! The girl couldn't be happier or busier (if that was possible).
This is how we spent most of the weekend.... looking at this super, cute smile and afro, curly hair.
