Five Question Friday

1. If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along? I'm going to quickly just do one thing of each...if I think about this too long I will never be able to decide!
Book- It Sucked and Then I Cried....
Movie- Either Major League or My Cousin Vinny
People - Steve (or if the kids are good the whole time, I would choose them too)
Foods - Dt Mountain Dew and peanut butter....b/c you can put PB on anything right?

2. What is your thought on year round school? It doesn't seem like that bad of an idea but I know the excitement of summer break too. I'm not completely against it, but I'm not going to go looking for year round school for my kids either.

3. What is your most embarrassing potty story? (Can't be one of your kids' potty stories either!) It's not that embarrassing but being pregnant with Piper. Good God...it was too hard to laugh and NOT want to pee my pants! I remember stopping in my tracks, crossing my legs and laughing just so I wouldn't pee my pants!

4. What's the temperature where you are? Normally COLD, today in the 50's....Monday I think the high is 13 degrees...so really it is a roller coaster of temps around here!

5. Are you a winter/spring/fall/summer person? I think I'm turning into a spring/fall person. I hate winter. I usually love summer but the last couple years have been so hot that it is hard to enjoy! I really prefer to NOT ever have to wear a jacket but know that when the sun goes down (no matter what time of year) this girl always has a sweatshirt/jacket nearby!

Week o' fun?!

I don't like it when my parents are gone for the week, I feel too out of touch! Especially since I'm used to seeing my mom 5-6 days a week! Any who...they are getting back late tonight and we are very happy about it.

My Tuesday with the 3 kids was good. Boston got here about 7....Piper didn't wake up until 8:15 and then Presley didn't get up until about 9:30! Presley and Boston played good together, I think she likes having other kids at our house b/c it is her territory and she feels she is in 'charge'! I put them down for naps (quiet time for P). Boston and Piper slept, Presley watched a movie in our room and I was able to take a shower and get ready so that I could take P to Target and gymnastics once Steve got home from work.
Wednesday I dropped P off at preschool and then had to jet downtown to have my biometrics test done for our health insurance. Piper was enjoyable! She smiled for everyone and then eventually fell asleep in her car seat for me. My biometrics test came back that I have great 'good' cholesterol (which she said could be impacted by my hormones from just having a baby), good blood pressure and a higher BMI than I would like. I do NOT like my weight right now, I know I should just give myself the benefit of the doubt knowing I just had a baby....however, knowing that I don't work out and that I eat like shit doesn't make me feel good either.
We picked P up from preschool, had lunch and then she had quiet time (another movie in our bed....which I'm fine with...it's an hour and a half of time that we both need to regroup! LOL!)
Then that night Holly met me so that we could go to the visitation together. Colleen normally holds herself together, and the minute we saw her she broke down...so of course, Holly and I did too. But she always has her sense of humor  (even during the hardest times) which I love!

Today, Presley went to Aprils and I had Boston and Piper. I was able to get my awesome cousin Kelly to meet at my parents house to watch them for me while I went to the funeral. Thanks again Kelly! I was gone for a couple hours, brought them home, fed Boston lunch and put him down for nap. Once Piper was sleeping too, I walked on the treadmill (I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes on Sunday too!) for about 25 minutes and was able to quickly shower afterwards before Piper woke up! Two easy, good kids made for a nice afternoon!

Life is too short

I just don't feel that I'm old enough to have friends whose parents are getting sick or dying. They are too young, I am too young. Why is life so unpredictable? My best friends dad passed away last Friday night. Sudden, unexpected heart attack at 66 years old. SIXTY-SIX! My dad just turned 60, Steve's dad is 73, it really puts things in perspective. What is important? What petty things we bitch about on a daily basis?
I can't really think about it b/c it tears me up knowing how quickly their lives have changed. How her mother now has to go home to an empty house. What things he was going to finish that weekend, only he never got the chance? We all know it will happen....eventually...in the future...right? But what if the future is tomorrow? I wouldn't be prepared for that, I don't think any death is something you can really prepare for but so unexpected, so sudden, so out of the blue. I can't wrap my head around the fact that some day (very, very far in the future!) I will get that same phone call about one of my parents.
At the funeral today, I was fairly pulled together. Then my friends 5 year old daughter came into the church and that is when I started thinking (thinking only produces tears during a funeral). Does she know what is going on? Does she understand? I know Presley doesn't fully understand the concept of death and we just told her that Bridgets grandpa went to heaven. Heck, we don't even know if she knows what that means or if they teach her about heaven in her preschool class (remember this is a religious school).
Colleen, my love, sympathy and heart goes out to you and your family! You are one of the strongest women I know and you always seem to have everything together. We are always here for you whenever you need us! Remember, your dad and Bo are probably together having a beer right now!  Did Bo like beer? Or did he prefer wine coolers? :)

(Sorry this post is all over the place, probably not making any sense but when it comes to death nothing makse sense to me either)

Weekend update

Saturday Holly wanted to spend some time with Presley, so she picked her up and took her for the afternoon. Presley is always very excited to spend some time with Aunt Holly (and Jerry and Mary!)
We got ready for our Packer party that afternoon since my parents are out of town we decided to have it at our house.
Mommy and Piper in our Packer shirts.
Holly, Samantha, Sarah, Jordan and Nick doing a shot after the Packer touchdown. We ran out of Goldschlager which I'm thinking is the reason the lost the game! I guess next year we'll be more prepared and stock up on the Goldschlager.
Sunday Presley and I went to the science center with Sam and Boston. It was fun! I'm glad they invited us and that Susie gave us her pass to use! :)

Since my parents are gone this week I took a week of vacation since we don't have a back up daycare provider for Miss Piper. So today P went to Aprils and Miss Piper and I went to the mall and spent some money....just like the good ole days of me being on maternity leave! Since she slept from 8:30 to 8, she didn't sleep that much during the day but she was good, smiley and oh so happy and talkative!
Tomorrow I will have Presley, Piper and Boston...I don't think it will be too much harder having all 3 of them, the main goal is to keep P and B from fighting all day! Wish me luck!

Our girls.

Five Question Friday

1. Flu mist? Flu shot? Or take your chances? Honestly we never do flu shots. Steve did get what we think was the flu (head cold flu, not stomach) a couple weeks ago but so far us 3 girls are still healthy (KNOCK ON WOOD!).  I usually get my normal seasonal cold, but can't say I have had the flu in years (KNOCK ON WOOD). So we take our chances!

2. Do your kids have iPads? What are some good educational apps? Price? No, our KIDS don't have iPads. We have an iPad that she uses but it is NOT hers....we have been trying to get her to understand that! She does love memory games and she has an alphabet app that she has been using for a couple years. So far, we have only downloaded free apps...I hate to pay for something and then have her hate it!
3. What are your favorite boy/girl baby names? No comment. I will never reveal the other names we like...in case there is a 3rd child someday.
4. If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, which apple do you choose to eat? (red/green, gala, red delicious...) Any apple with peanut butter is the way to go!
5. What is your favorite place to escape to for peace & quiet, to think? Why? I don't know if I really have an 'escape' place to go.....Now that we have the whirlpool tub I do like to veg out in there with my wine and a book but that only happens about once a month! I'm hoping when we get our deck built this spring that I can sit out there to escape...we'll see. A trip to Cancun is always a good way to escape too!

3 months!

Miss Piper......

- is estimated at about 12 lbs...and is finally wearing her 0-3 and 3 month clothes! It was so sad to pack up those tiny little newborn clothes! :(
- smiles so easily. I love that little grin! And 'talks' alot! She is definitely a Goodrich with all the talking she does!
- normally eats 6 oz every 3 hours
- holds her head up like a pro! She doesn't fuss too much during tummy time, she just lays her head down and starts sucking on her hand.
- rolled over for the first time tonight (for Steve...so it might have been a fluke! HA!)
- we have no real schedule for bottles or naps but she is still cat-napping in the morning with a good, long nap in the afternoon and then usually has a 1/2 hours snooze in the evening too.
- HAS SLEPT THRU THE NIGHT FOR OVER A WEEK NOW! People, do you realize how big of a deal this is to us! Presley didn't sleep thru the night until she was 8 months old! Of course, we still get up and check on her all the time (yes, she is finally swaddled in her crib now!). She loves to wiggle her way up to the corner of the crib and push her face right up againt the bumper pad (real safe, huh?) (And yes, we are bad parents and have bumper pads on the crib...shame on us....whatever.) We still doubt that this will continue but we'll enjoy it while we can.
- she is still super sweet and good and cuddly! Love it!
